Read MoreHi, my name is Katharine, and I am a Tellington TTouch Practitioner and dog trainer. I am the owner of Canine Support based in Somerset. I specialise in sensitive, fearful, anxious and nervous dogs. I offer Hybrid Dog Training providing the perfect combination of online learning at home, at your own pace, alongside in-person dog training sessions. This combined approach means that you can learn all of the theory behind the training conveniently in your own home, where you can start to practise your new skills. In-person training will help you to move on to the next level in your training and help you out by troubleshooting any struggles you're having along the way. Tellington TTouch is a specialised approach to the care and training of our animals, but there is so much more to it than that. TTouch consists of bodywork, wraps and other equipment, the playground for higher learning and a philosophy of respect for the animal. TTouch increases body language awareness between the guardian and the dog, which develops your bond to another level of understanding. Tellington TTouch is a gentle, respectful method of training the body, mind and spirit. It gives the dog choices, and TTouch helps the dog become more aware of themselves, which is fundamental to their balance and how they interact with the world, their feeling of comfort and security. When dogs feel safer, they are more self-confident in their environment, and a dog who is self-confident has more self-control and can act rather than simply react to stimuli. TTouch gives mental stimulation, changes behaviour, enhances health and well-being and releases tension. Canine Support runs a 6-week online TTouch course called "Introduction to Tellington TTouch and Body Work for Dogs and Their Guardians" throughout the year, along with many other self-paced courses for reactive and sensitive dogs. I only use kind and gentle training methods, encouraging self-confidence and improving your dog’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being. I work closely with clients to ensure you build an incredible bond between you and your dog, supporting you with any difficulties you might have and giving you the tools to tackle stressful situations positively. Canine Support also has its own App where you can view all your course content on your mobile devices, making training so much easier. I have multiple dog training qualifications with IMDT: Career as a dog trainer. Level 3 Learning, motivation & reinforcement – understanding and working with Canine Behaviour. Perfect Puppy Foundations. Canine Body Language. Canine Aggressions and Rehab. The Exercises. I have worked with Janet Finlay, author of Your End of the Lead and am proudly one of her Your End of the Lead approved Coaches. I continue to hone my knowledge and skills and have completed a number of courses and workshops, including maintaining my TTouch CPD: Michael Shikashio, Master course – Aggression in Dogs Andrew Hale - Dog Centred Care – Unpacking the Emotional Experience Workshop Laura Donaldson and Andrew Hale - Transforming Perspectives on difficult behaviour. Laura Donaldson - Grounding: dogs healing from Trauma. Dr Holly Tett - Trauma Informed Dog Practitioner Programme. Learn and Develop – Low-stress handling of the canine patient.
