Star Dreme
Specialty coffee, artisan cake bakery and handmade ice cream on the shores of the Moray Firth
Read MoreWe have been told by many visitors that we brew the best coffee in the Highlands, come and see if you agree!
We offer single origin specialty coffee along with artisan hand baked cakes and handmade ice cream. A large range of cold drinks are also stocked along with crisps. Teas, black and herbals, together with hot chocolate.
Our cakes are baked on the premises using as many local Highland ingredients as we can. Dremey ice cream is crafted here in Rockfield, on the shores of the Moray Firth. Made from scratch (Artisan) with full cream and the best vanilla and other flavourings we can source, it does taste dremey! We also have Dremey vegan and diary free ice cream. Our bees will be busy making Highland honey that will be available later this year.
Star dreme stocks a range of gifts that are in tune with the planet for your homes, yourself and loved ones. Natural candles and reed diffusers for your home, vegetable Ivory jewellery (no elephants involved) and Scottish gifts. Hand-made chocolates and pottery to name but a few.
Our unique cafe and shop is located on the beach with stunning views of the Moray firth and Ballone Castle, with distant views of the Cairngorm mountains across the way on the other side of the peninsula. Visitors can sit outside and enjoy their coffee, cakes and ice cream and spot the dolphins, sea otters, occasional whales and other wildlife.
There are miles of unspoilt beach walks where you and your dog can walk in safety. The Tarbat peninsula includes the famous Tarbat lighthouse that is within walking distance of Star Dreme. This piece of coastline is very ancient and you will find lots of references to the ancient Picts. Then there is the pirate or sailors grave between Rockfield and Ballone castle, called the pirates grave it is actually the site of an old chapel and graveyard but only this gravestone survived (reference: Douglas Gordon). Go in search of the concrete arrows used during World War II (reference: Douglas Gordon).
Children will love their time here, with outdoor beanbags and space to play. Whilst they should be supervised by parents/care givers at all times, they can also explore the beach whilst you drink your coffee.
Star dreme is very dog friendly and you can bring your dog with you for great walks along the beach and wash them off with our hose afterwards. We have a car park for your convenience. Please check our website or facebook page for opening hours which are usually Monday to Sunday, 11.00 am to 5.00 pm
