Owl's Hill Tearoom

(32 reviews)

Owl’s Hill Tearoom is a great pit stop for cyclists, dog walkers, hikers and anyone wanting to sample our simple but excellent menu. Just off the Essex Way in the beautiful village of Terling you will find a cosy and quaint former dairy store with both indoor and outdoor seating areas (dogs welcome in both).

Easily accessible from both Braintree and Chelmsford areas and only 10 minutes from Witham, the building and village has a fascinating history (shown on the many old photos on our wall) but now serves delicious handmade cakes, thick cut sandwiches and proper toasties (no panini press here!) Everything is freshly prepared to order and our coffee is always highly complimented, as is the tea (served loose leaf in teapots). For dairy free alternatives to milk we offer oat, soya and coconut plus gluten free and dairy free options are available to suit both sweet and savoury tastes. Dogs are welcome to join their well behaved humans in both our indoor and outdoor seating areas. Our small but friendly team will be on hand to serve you at your table including waiting on your doggies …requests for a sausage, gravy bone or a puppaccino are always a bonus! Cycle racks, padlocks and pumps are always on hand for our visiting cyclists and for anyone feeling the chill in the winter we can offer hot water bottles and blankets. Within easy walking distance there is a Ford suitable for puppy paddling, an antiques centre, two churches, a children’s playground, a pub, the village stores and Terling Cricket Club. We may be biased but Terling is definitely one of the most dog friendly and welcoming of villages!

It’s such a lovely tearoom, my favourite. Dogs welcome inside and out. Outside has covered booths for rainy days. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Delicious food and drinks with Puppycinos and dog biscuits available for the dogs.

Warm and cosy inside the tearoom in the winter with mince pies and hot chocolates or an cool coke and a fully loaded Brownie in the sunshine outside at the end of a dog walk. Dogs welcomed in and out, biscuits, puppicinos and pats readily available.
