A CAMRA real ale Pub, bar meals, restaurant, function venue, accommodations all in a sympathetically renovated building. Lots of space for dogs, (just as well it’s popular with dog walkers) we have 3 very large dogs and we’re always welcomed and given space. Right next to Knaresborough’s railway station so easy transport to/from York-Leeds and in between or short (uphill or downhill depending on which you prefer) walk to bus stops to/from Knaresborough/Harrogate bus stations.

The very helpful landlady likes to welcome dogs as well as owners her and her staff are really friendly and always ask it we would like water for the dog’s and bring a bowl over. They have a jar of doggie treats on the bar (free but mine have allergies but they always ask if they can have them first). I’ve arranged quite a few Christmas functions there with various allergies happily catered for and wonderful food, great selection of lovely wines and a rotating good selection of real ales from local and not so local breweries. Definitely a regular venue for us. Parking is restricted in places due to the train station and can be tight as it’s situated at the bottom of a dead end. There is also an outdoor garden for visits in warmer weather, a real fire indoors for those cozy winter evenings and varnished warmer wooden floors, not stone for the dog’s to lay on. Various rooms to choose from and two restaurant areas but food can be served an all areas and dogs are allowed in all 3 ground floor rooms. There is a basement function room and dog’s are even allowed at functions. For a close to town centre pub it can be fairly quiet. I used to walk the dog’s to meet my hubby at the station around 18.30 in a Friday and it was only moderately busy mostly with dog walkers until around 20.30 ish when it started getting busier. It’s tucked secretly away just off the high street so not many tourist come across it unless they know it’s there but the ones I’ve met say they come back when they’re in the area. I wholeheartedly recommend it with or without dogs, but better with👍!
