The Duke of Wellington Inn

(5 reviews)

A dog friendly Michelin Guide listed and AA Rosette winning pub, inn and restaurant with phenomenal views over the Tyne Valley and excellent local countryside walks.

A traditional Northumbrian inn located in a small hamlet near Corbridge, The Duke is first and foremost a local village pub, albeit one with more than just a hint of the luxurious.

Nestled in the hillside of Hadrian’s Wall Country over looking the Tyne Valley the views are nothing short of exceptional. During your visit you can explore the surrounding countryside through our many local walks, visiting nearby Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site or, if you’re up for the challenge walking the 84 mile wall path.

The Duke has seven rooms, two of which are dog friendly, and with a 5 star gold rating from Visit England and AA you can rest assured you will be well taken care of. Decorated with both comfort and luxury in mind all of our rooms are unique and have been individually designed with a distinctly Northumbrian feel.

We pride ourselves on, and have become know locally throughout Northumberland for our award winning food, with Breakfast, lunch and dinner served 7 days a week. We firmly believe that the key to such a high standard of food is seasonal produce and the use of local suppliers to create the tastiest of dishes, but the views across the valley from our restaurant do add a little something to a meal.

In the bar there is a strong community feel, we’re dog friendly with dog treats behind the bar for your four legged companions, locally brewed beer, a roaring fire, friendly bar staff, a bookshelf to help yourself to, a dart board and a selection of board games to keep you entertained as the night draws in.

Staff genuinely seem to love dogs. Bowl of water and some treats provided without asking. We love to walk the 3 miles to the Welly@Newton for a cracking lunch, great service and dog friendly welcome.

Lucy Sharman, September 2020

Friendly and accommodating staff. Always very attentive and the food is delicious. We are lucky to have this on our doorstep.

Jacqui Reid, September 2020

I have two border collies who are made very welcome at the Duke, water and treats readily available
