The Black River Inn
The Black River Inn is a village pub at heart, with a significant focus on quality food and drink. You will find a warm welcome to all here, muddy wellies, four legs and all customers of all ages. Staff have a genuine enjoyment in what they do, nothing is too much trouble. A large beer garden with beautiful views of the Devon countryside offer shady and sunny spots. An ever-changing menu with the seasons and a continuous rotation of beers, allowing new tipples to be sought and enjoyed. A definite must visit if in the locality.
Read MoreEveryone is welcome, wellie boots, mud, four legs, families and alike. Even through COVID restrictions, the place has a 'pub-like' feel as much as possible; an aspect the owners were keen to maintain. Since opening under current ownership on 22 June 2018, the pub began it's quick road to popularity within the locality and over the last 2 years has generated an ever-growing presence, whilst always remaining the village pub. Locals, wellies, muddy paws, children and all are welcome, and always with a wam welcome.
Supporting fellow small and local businesses is one of the main key business models and this can be seen through the bar and food offerings. The bar rotates it's ales (one of the exciting things that draws real ale drinkers in, as no house ale, gives those that enjoy, a chance to try new) and 90% of which are sourced in the Westcountry, the gins are all Westcountry gins, except the house one (to keep house prices low). There is one local spirit of each type on the shelves. The kitchen won't purchase fish or seafood that isn't local, our butchery all comes from a local butchers down the road, all fruit and vegetables come from a local farm supplier or with a beer exchange through locals and friends (taken up by many). As a result of which, the menu (which the chef wants to be wow factor, affordable, and brings a smile) can change with the seasons and when he can source the best produce at any time.
A must visit if you are in the locality.
