Gemma’s had originally trained as a secondary teacher, working within inner city school, helping children with a range of needs. Having decided to have successful IVF treatment, Gemma wanted to ensure that she could had the correct work life balance to ensure that she could be there to watch her daughter grow and develop. This is when Gemma met Jodi and their passion for dogs came about. Jodi had a dog of her own and together they started walking dogs in her spare time, which has now flourished into Gemma running a small team of walkers based within Warwickshire, providing dog walking, behavioural training and socialising as well as pet sitting services. Polly comes from a very different background where her skill set was working within the law industry as a Commercial Director. In 2018 Polly rescued JJ, a handsome Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and this is where her passion for animals really took hold. Polly started volunteering at the Birmingham Dogs Home (BDH) in 2019 which quickly developed into a permanent position with them and now gives back to the community by being a trustee for the charity. In 2021 when Polly was attending the General Annual Meeting at BDH, a puppy came into the centre with broken and disjointed front paws. Polly couldn’t resist the temptation to have another dog at home and following a short foster placement Axl-Rose is now a fully-fledged member of the family. Polly later contacted Gemma through Gemma's Pet Services, needing a little more support with some of Axl’s behaviours and this is how the relationship between these two business minded women started. Together they have taken the bold decision to leave their skilled industries and come together to provide the local community with a shop that shows off all the natural goods we can give to our dogs, as well as promote other likeminded small business. Getting that work life balance can be difficult but with a drive for providing the best products possible for your dogs, as well as knowing the importance of family they are certainly a force not to be reckoned with.
