Read MoreWelcome to the Three Crowns, a beautiful, part-thatched 5-star inn set in the heart of the pretty Dartmoor town of Chagford. Behind its imposing granite facade, the Three Crowns is a magical mix of 13th-century features and contemporary comfort and style. From beamed ceilings and huge inglenook fireplaces to a glass atrium and stunning courtyard garden, the Three Crowns is a delightful place to enjoy great food and a comfortable stay. We offer a delicious menu featuring fresh, local seasonal produce, cooked to order by our talented team. We also offer an extensive wine list and a great selection of soft drinks. We have a policy of ‘keeping it local’ and use local ingredients in our dishes and stock local wines and juices. Whether you choose to eat in the cosy, traditional front bar with its log fire and mullioned windows or the stunning light and open glass atrium we are sure you will enjoy your meal. The Three Crowns has 21 en-suite boutique bedrooms refurbished to a high standard and successfully blending character with modern design and convenience. In each bedroom, you will find a contemporary en-suite, a divinely comfortable Vi-Spring bed, flat-screen TV, internet connectivity, bottled water, bathrobes and i-pod docking stations. FREE wireless internet access is available throughout the Three Crowns. DOG-FRIENDLY Chagford is a great base for walking and we regularly welcome guests with four legs, as well as two! You are welcome to bring your dogs with you – well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the bar, snug and external dining areas. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the building. We have six dog-friendly rooms all with direct access to the external courtyard. Breakfast is served in our glass atrium every morning and guests with dogs may take breakfast in the bar if they wish. Chagford town is surrounded by some of Dartmoor’s most spectacular scenery, with great walks just about everywhere, particular delights in the area are Meldon Hill, which offers panoramic views. Beyond are Kes Tor and Fernworthy Forest, with direct access to the open moors. To help you and your dog make the most of your visit and explore this beautiful area, we have also produced our own leaflet featuring a range of circular walks of varying length and difficulty, starting right from the front door! If you’d like to explore the pretty town of Chagford itself, the Chagford History Society has produced a Town Trail, sponsored by the Three Crowns, that you can download here.

Claire Golding, August 2023
Always are welcome and very accommodating. They make such a fuss of our boy Reggie
Kelly Laws, August 2023
There is a real difference between hotels who accept dogs and dog friendly hotels. We have visited the 3 Crowns twice and taken our dog each time, they accept that you have been out walking on the moor and understand if your dogs are dirty, dog friendly rooms are superb and the staff always make a fuss of the dogs!! Absolutely excellent!! Our dog loves it as much as we do!!
Dean Lagdon, November 2022
Always a welcoming smile or pat on the back, from all of the staff!
