We stayed at this lovely family-run hotel on the Scottish border, having a large pooch is usually an issue not here, Marcus our Malamute was made welcome the moment his paws hit the hotel. There was a doggy bed, towel and an amazing welcome pack of a bowl, treat and toy which he loved. The team does love dogs and it shows. There is even breakfast for them Sausage, scrambled, egg and bacon

Dog friendly is not the phrase I'd use but dog welcoming/crazy is a better description. We'd been walking in the town & were somewhat wet, hungry & thirsty. They say dogs know where they're wanted, well Daisy knew she was welcome passing the door, she dragged us in (I promise we did put up a fight ) . We were welcomed & the owner Sam came in when she was told there was a doggy customer, she brought a towel & with permission towel dried daisy, she loved it. The guy on the bar Ben brought the menu etc over & made sure Daisy was okay. Whilst we ordered a bowl or water & a squeaky was brought to daisy. Whilst we waited for our food fantastic pizzas, sausages & mash Daisy was pampered with a pup cup, treats & more bum scratches that she knew what to do with. It was a delight to see that the whole team love dogs .
We did giggle & take a peak around the corner when we heard Sam say come here Hector my big boy, thankfully Hector is a regular dog with his own bowl & squeaky toy kept behind the bar.
We got talking to Sam when she came to clear up & she mentioned the rooms are dog friendly too, we know where to stay next time.
There is a doggy menu on route & to be honest it sounds perfect.
We highly recommend the Crown Hotel

I wish we could give more stars. We saw a small dog-friendly plaque on the wall & inquired if they were still dog friendly. The owner Sam's face lit up & informed us our four-legged companion was more than welcome.
Sam, & the team. fussed over our boy. We had a choice to eat in either the bar or beer garden it was nice to have a choice for a change. He was immediately brought a bowl of water and cuddle before the confessed dog lover popped into the kitchen for a piece of ham.
Our meals were very tasty homemade steak pie and the chunkiest chips my husband had ever had & I had the homemade Lasagna, with a portion the chunky chips & garlic bread. The portions were big and the quality exceptional.
As we left their beast of fluff (the actual owner) arrived, post-walk. Boris is an enormous, softy of a newfypoo who welcomed our boy in the usual fashion.
We highly recommend Crown Hotel, Langholm.
