Read MorePenkerris was built in the days of marble washstands , coal fires in the bedrooms and chambermaids/footmen to bring hot water, coal etc ! I thought we had done well to put in washbasins - but everyone wants en-suites nowadays. We have squeezed some in ! But there are two nice bathrooms and a big shower room available to all. Breakfast is served in the big dining room with its moulded ceiling and big fireplace with its copper hod. We cook breakfast to order - still old fashioned - and the staff will wait on you. We serve breakfast at 8.30 AM but it can be ordered earlier. The beds are made up with both sheets and blankets AND duvets. There is TV, WIFI . kettles and microwaves for tea/coffee requirements. The garden is fine for ball games or just for relaxation and there is a barbecue you can use. We used to be surrounded by fields - but those days are gone! But it is only a short, short walk to the village with its pubs, shops, restaurants and a lovely old church. The nearest beach is Trevaunance Cove - charming- with an old harbour wall and - at low tide - little rock pool with tiny crabs and fish and attractive filmy red sea weeds. This beach has beach huts - we own one which guests may use --, shops and a restaurant. Chapel Porth - the other beach - is magnificent with pools and caves and towering cliffs You can walk , on the cliff edge, from one beach to the other - and you re still in St Agnes . This is Poldark country - the area where Winston Graham based his novels. There are ruins of engine house to be seen around the area. Wheel Coates , above Chapel Porth is one of the best. I knew Winston quite well ! St Agnes is really central and I think this is the very narrowest part of England - you can drive across to the other coast and see Falmouth in less than half an hour. But St Agnes is really central for seeing all of Cornwall.
