Caledonian Hotel
(1 review)
Dogs: 2
Built in the early 1900s, the 83-bedroom Caledonian Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in the area. It still boasts a quiet, friendly and welcoming atmosphere and pleasant gardens.
The Hotel overlooks Ullapool’s working harbour and the colourful fishing boats on Loch Broom. To the right of the hotel is the Fowler Memorial Clock – said to be the most photographed clock in the Highlands. It was first erected in 1899 in memory of Sir John Arthur Fowler (1817-1898) and his family who lived at Braemore House near Corrieshalloch Gorge. However, to help reduce traffic congestion, it was moved to its new home in West Argyle Street in the 1960s.

Patricia Pidd, April 2023
We stayed here for three nights whilst touring the North Coast 500. Ullapool is a nice little town on the banks of Loch Broom. The hotel was lovely. We were on the third floor which was a bit of a drag, no lifts. However the room had obviously been refurbished recently and was comfortable. The staff were all helpful and the food was nice. They are just starting to do evening meals and what we had was good. The breakfast was buffet style when busy but changed to orders when less people in. I prefer a buffet but can understand why they do this. We sat just outside the restaurant with the dog but this was fine and we were well looked after. There were quite a few dogs in the hotel but no problems. Walks from the door, Ullapool hill is signposted off the main road. If you follow Quay Street away from the Loch you come to Castle Street at the end, turn left and on your right there are steps to walks along the Riverside.
