Threave Garden & Nature Reserve
A gardern for all seasons, built on a gill with long views towards the Galloway Hills and the ken/Dee Valley. There's lots to see including a number of garden 'rooms', a walled garden and with glasshouses; a wetland nature reserve where ospreys nest and Scotland's only bat reserve. You may be lucky enough to see red squirrels anywhere on the site too. We were told at reception that dogs, on short leads, can go anywhere on site including the café where dogs are welcome in all the outdoor seats and in a designated indoor area. The only place dogs are not allowed is the children's play area. It's a very beautiful place but, to enjoy the whole site, you and your dog must be able to manage inclines.
