Holker Hall & Gardens
Holker Hall & Gardens is a must-visit attraction, magnificently situated amongst rolling fells and beautiful countryside, just a stones throw away from the Unesco World Heritage site of the Lake District.
Read MoreDating back to th early 1600's, Holker Hall has been home to the Preston, Lowther and Cavendish families. The Estate has passed by inheritance through the family line with each generation leaving its impressions by either altering the landscape or by changing the house by adding, refacing, embellishing or even rebuilding, as happened to the New Wing after the disastrous fire of March 1871.
The immaculately kept gardens (25 acres in all) are part woodland and part formal garden. These are complemented by the 200 acre 'natural' parkland, which is the result of late 18th century planting by Lord George Cavendish. Over generations the family have continued to develop the garden and they are constantly evolving as new plantings are made and new ideas are born.
2020 is the year we celebrate 70 years open to the public and there is no better to celebrate this than with all the family, including our four legged family members. Dogs are welcome across all areas of the site (accept the Hall) when on a lead.
Our courtyard cafe serves fresh homemade food daily alongside our famous Holker scones! We have very recently opened an ice cream parlour in the courtyard which will be sure to cure that sweet tooth! Our Gift shop has everything you could want and is the one stop shop for that perfect pick me up.
Our opening hours are:
Wednesday-Sunday, 10:30am-4pm
