Bolton Abbey
(1 review)
There are over eighty miles of footpaths across some of the most spectacular countryside in England. Dogs must be kept on lead within the Abbey, but there are designated places where dogs can run free (there is a useful map on the web site)

Have enjoyed walking many of my dogs here for decades though sadly after a hugely sickening encounter with the kiosk attendant at Riverside entrance early 2023, sadly my little dog had to cross his legs for a little longer. We were left no choice but to leave the site and unprovoked unpleasantness behind after being slandered by kiosk attendant falsely accusing us of using foul language, then abusively harassed as soon as we parked by ill trained staff at the behest of said kiosk staff who was unfortunately enjoying a mini power trip for the day.
We went to visit the friendlier strid cafe instead. Parking is free while you have a coffee with delightful wholesome food and free doggy biscuits, but you would have to pay to go down to the scenic strid area which offers an excellent but not too strenuous doggy walk for doggies and veteran owners.
