Y Granar is a luxurious hideaway for two in a 200 year old stone barn with a king-size four poster tester bed and organic cotton linens, kept cosy by underfloor heating.  We love ALL dogs, of every size and shape and disposition, and have designed Y Granar to make them welcome, with a four-poster dog bed, dog treats, food & water bowls, leads, guest tags, and maps of dog walks (no stiles!) from the property.

Tan yr Allt is tucked into a hillside in west Wales with sweeping views of the Cambrian Mountains. Its romantic self-catering holiday cottages are perfect for relaxing and rewinding. The Red Kite can usually be seen soaring above. Just a few steps away are beautiful walks in the Cambrian Mountains, yet it is only 15 miles inland of the coast where you can enjoy the beautiful beaches of Cardigan Bay, walk the spectacular coastal path, try to spot the UK’s largest pod of dolphins in New Quay, or visit the historic university town of Aberystwyth. Y Granar (The Granary) warmly welcomes you and your pets to the peace and tranquility of open-plan living in the beautiful Welsh countryside. Up to four dogs of any size or breed are welcome, and there are never any additional pet charges. If your cats enjoy a holiday, you may bring them along as well. There is a dog welcome pack including towels, treats, bowls and guest tags, cozy underfloor heating, and even a four-poster dog bed suitable for small dogs. Maps are provided to guide you on beautiful dog-friendly walks from your door. The 200-year-old barn sits tucked into a hillside, giving Y Granar, on the upper floor, sweeping countryside views from the balcony at the same time as easy access on one level from the quiet lane at the front. It is the perfect place to leave behind any stresses of everyday life and relax. The stunning interior has exposed A-frame beams and fieldstone walls, which set off the romantic grandeur of an opulent four-poster bed with organic cotton sheets, and a freestanding roll-top bath. There is also a shower room with with a skylight. Whether sitting in front of the wood-burning stove or lying in the bath, you will be able to enjoy views through the stable door. It has windows top and bottom, so the dogs can see the views as well. Magnificently dark night skies can be gazed upon, either from the balcony or through the skylights. The country kitchen is fully equipped for whatever cooking might strike your fancy, with a Belfast sink and a Rangemaster cooker. The floors are kept incredibly cozy by underfloor heating throughout, flowing from the green & clean energy-efficient biomass system, which is fuelled by locally-sourced wood chips. It keeps you toasty all year round! The barn is accessed from road level, and is all on one level inside. The raised terrace has outdoor furniture for relaxing and watching red kites flying overhead. Down the steps is your private garden. Beyond are a dog exercise paddock and acres of pasture leading to a pretty bluebell copse adjoining a rambling stream. The property's name is Welsh for "under the wooded hill", and it appears on the earliest of tithe and ordnance survey maps. Although it feels as if it's miles from anywhere, it is actually just one mile up a mountain road from the ancient market town of Tregaron, historically the gathering place for drovers herding their cattle, sheep, pigs, and even specially-shod geese over the Cambrian Mountains to Abergwesyn and onward to markets in England. There are dog-friendly pubs and restaurants in town, and beautiful walks in the Cors Caron Nature Reserve just a few miles beyond.
