The Annex
Sleeps: 3
This charming annexe to the owner’s property is perfectly situated in south-west Somerset, between the Quantock Hills and Bridgwater Bay. The cottage is in the hamlet of Stolford near to the peaceful village of Stogursey. Also enjoy access to coastal walks directly from the garden. Fabulous views of the Somerset coastline with Burnham-on-Sea in the distance can be seen from here. Having pulled onto the private drive, you will walk a few steps to a small gate enclosing the pretty garden and lovely patio area overlooking the owner’s grounds and open countryside beyond. The lounge offers a comfortable sofa to enjoy a film or simply absorb the tranquillity of the surroundings. There is an electric fire for chilly nights and the option to indulge in a home-cooked meal at the dining room table, having made use of the well-equipped kitchen area. The Babbling Brook Inn is family-run with award-winning food, while The Greyhound Inn has a woodburning stove for the winter, keeping you nice and cosy. Along the hall, the bedrooms comprise a comfortable single and a spacious master bedroom with a king-size bed. There is space for a travel cot and children along with pets are most welcome, so this holiday home really can meet everyone’s needs! Perfectly situated on the South-west coastal path at Bridgwater Bay, this is a walker’s paradise, as well as being dog friendly walks on the common. There is an abundance of nearby family days out to enjoy, in particular Dunster, with a medieval castle to visit, Somerset Steam Railway, Minehead, Exmoor and Brean Leisure Park, or bustling towns of Bridgwater and Taunton within an easy drive. Weston-super-Mare, with its golden beaches and traditional donkey rides can easily be visited by car. The pebbly, dog-friendly beach looks out onto the expansive mudflats of the Bristol Channel and it is possible to find fossils at Stolford beach or fish at high tide. This location will particularly appeal to nature lovers wanting to visit the WWT Nature Reserve of Steart Marshes with lovely first class bird hides. It is close to the salt marshes and sandbanks along the River Parrett, which provide an internationally important feeding and roosting site for wildfowl and wading birds.
