Situated 5 miles north of Great Yarmouth right on the coast. On the doorstep of the Norfolk broads - Filby and Ormesby Broads, Norwich 15 miles and Cromer 30 miles. Beautifully refurbished house in a prime position. Ideal for holidays in Norfolk. Great Yarmouth Stadium has different evenings for Greyhound Racing and Stock-car/banger racing – my children love this, very noisy, great fun! Caister Castle is worth a visit, can do this in half a day, in my opinion, very own car collection if you are interested in cars. There are plenty of places to visit depending on the children’s ages Petits Animal Adventure Park, Church Road, Reedham, Norfolk book online you get discounted tickets. Open everyday, about 11 miles away. Market Days in Great Yarmouth are Wednesday and Saturday all year round. Ride the snails at Joyland, Great Yarmouth Sea Front, is a must, even for adults! Pleasurewood Hills further a field, if you are looking for adrenaline rollercoaster – Wipeout is the tallest, faster and most extreme rollercoaster in the East of England, apparently! At Great Yarmouth you have the Pleasure Beach where you can ride an old rickety wooden rollercoaster and there is a log flume, you will get wet if you go on! Bewilderwood 10 am – 5.30 p.m. is a fun day out, Sat Nav NR12 8JW, it is not cheap in my opinion. We always take plenty of drinks and a picnic. Take a lazy boat ride across the scary lake, brave the broken bridge, whizz down the wobbly wires and be baffled by the sky maze. Thrigby Hall & Wildlife Gardens are close, NR29 3DR, free parking, children’s play areas, opens at 10 am, go online for discount vouchers www.thrigbyhall.co.uk Filby Broads you can take rowing boats on, café/restaurant gets good reviews. Guided heritage walk ‘Rows, Fisheries & Red Herrings’, meeting point: Fisherman’s Hospital, Great Yarmouth, no pre-booking required, telephone 01493 846346 or visit great-yarmouth.co.uk/heritage-walks for further details. If the weather is good, you may just want to be on the beach, please take care, the rip tides of the sea are very dangerous. Our children swim, only under supervision of an adult- iniflatables get taken out very quickly. You can normally see seals swimming in the sea, so keep an eye out...

Ray, March 2023

Our family and our boxer dog Walter have visited The Anchorage numerous times over the last five years. The accommodation is excellent and offers spacious rooms on both levels along with stunning sea views. The location is quiet and peaceful and literally a stone’s throw from the sandy beach. There are also good sized secure front and rear gardens for Walter to play and sunbathe in when not on the beach. It’s the perfect relaxing bolt hole for any dog lovers, can’t recommend highly enough!
