(2 reviews)
Sleeps: 4
Stockham Farm, Dulverton is a spacious self-contained wing of a traditional period Exmoor farmhouse, situated in the hills just 1.4 miles from the small town of Dulverton, in the beautiful Exmoor National Park. Sleeps up to 4 guests and is pet-friendly. The Victorian Wing has been recently refurbished to a high standard and now offers comfortable holiday accommodation, which is self-contained with its own front door, private garden and plentiful parking. Situated on a farm in a stunning Exmoor setting, guests can enjoy panoramic views and tranquillity is guaranteed!
Well behaved dogs welcome (maximum of 2) for £30 supplement per dog. Sorry, no puppies (aged less than 12 months). Please do not allow your dogs upstairs, on the furniture or leave them unattended.
Completely self-contained, The Victorian Wing of the farmhouse at Stockham Farm has an impressive front door, leading into the porch (great for removing muddy boots and drying off muddy paws). The sitting-room is welcoming and characterful and boasts underfloor heating, as well as a fabulous inglenook fireplace with a wood-burning stove! Comfy chairs and sofa, bookcases, board games and a smart TV, ensure all creature comforts are there for you.
A few steps lead up to a half-landing where you will find the entrance into the bespoke kitchen-breakfast room, with views of the orchard from the old pine table. On the opposite side of the hall is the bathroom, which comprises a power shower over the bath, toilet and hand basin. Both kitchen and bathroom have underfloor heating, and the kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine and microwave in addition to the ceramic hob and fan assisted oven.
Stairs lead up to the first floor where the bedrooms are; two cosy, comfortable bedrooms with lovely views across the paddocks to the hills beyond. One bedroom has a king-size bed and the other has a super-king bed that can be made up as twin beds on request. Please make this request at the time of booking.
Bed linen and towels are provided for use, but please bring your own beach towels and dog towels (if appropriate).
A welcome pack of a bottle of sparkling wine, home-made scones, Cornish clotted cream, locally made jam and a small bottle of milk. You will find a small quantity of tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil etc. in the kitchen to get you started.
Heating and electricity are included in the price of the accommodation. The ground floor has underfloor heating, plus there are radiators upstairs. A large pile of logs will be provided for the wood burning stove, including a small quantity of kindling, firelighters and matches.
The Victorian Wing has really good wifi (provided by satellite) that extends throughout the cottage and outside too! 4G reception is also good, as is mobile reception for EE and Three.
Directly outside the cottage is a private lawned garden with outside furniture and a barbecue. This area is for guests' sole use but is not enclosed. In addition, guests are also welcome to explore the farm’s 35 acres, where you will find horses, Exmoor Horn sheep and abundant wildlife, including rare Red Deer which come right up to the pond to drink in summer evenings.
The Victorian Wing is attached at one end to the main farmhouse where the owners live, the drive is shared but the cottage has its own parking area and is private. There is another holiday cottage on the farm, The Piggery (sleeps up to 6 guests), which is approx 50 metres away and has its own separate access and outside area.
Just across the garden is stabling for up to 4 horses, should you wish to bring your horse on holiday with you. Horses are charged at £20 per horse per night to include use of stable, turn out, straw bedding and hay. You will find bridlepaths almost directly from the farm leading you right up onto the moor with barely any roadwork needed. Please contact us for further details.
There is an endless variety of fabulous walks that can commence right from the door – a full day’s trek to Tarr Steps and back, or a circular walk across the fields with panoramic views and through pretty woodland down into the small market town of Dulverton.
