Quantock Hide
(4 reviews)
Dogs: 3
Sleeps: 4
Set in an enchanted spot at the top of Somerset's majestic Quantock Hills, a place where ancient woodland meets wild moorland and Jurassic coast lies the very special Quantock Hide. This boutique luxury dog-friendly cottage which is swathed in romance and luxury is nestled at the top of its own woodland driveway. It has coastal views in the distance and open moorland behind and offers blissful comfort, privacy and idyllic seclusion. The Quantock Hide is a truly unique dog-friendly luxurious cottage which is cradled within the privacy of a country estate. It is simply beautiful and is something a bit different - it has a hint of a noble hunting lodge, a Himalayan garden paradise, all watched over by a majestic avenue of 400 year old beech trees. The ground floor open-plan living space welcomes you warmly the moment you step inside. From the curl-up in sofas, the wood-burner, the day bed for those afternoon siestas to the designer kitchen, the rich fabrics to the stylish furnishings - every detail speaks volumes. Inside or out - whatever the season, even a simple meal will be a delight. The kitchen is beautifully equipped, the dining table by the wood-burner is great for winter suppers with the curtains drawn and the garden great for late breakfasts, long picnics and cocktails in the summer sunlight. Both bedrooms have super king-sized beds, fabulous white linens and a deep sense of tranquillity. The master bedroom has a roll-top bath for two - surround this with candlelight and you cannot help but be drawn into the true spirit of The Quantock Hide, especially when you duck under the eaves and climb in to your silk enshrined sumptuous cocoon of a bed. The second bedroom is very pretty, the super king-sized bed can be split to make twins and it has an adjacent luxurious shower room. The landscaped gardens are split into three distinct 'garden rooms' all of which have breath-taking views out to sea and up through the ancient beech tree avenue. A bubbling hot tub is set on the raised terrace in perfect privacy behind the cottage and you are spoilt for choice with places to relax; laze in the covered day bed with a good book in one secluded corner, stretch out on the sun beds on the lower patio which is surrounded by tropical plants or take a jug of Pimms, a picnic hamper and a blanket to the upper levels or relax in the hot tub in the starlight. This is one of our most dog friendly luxury properties welcoming up to three dogs (more possible on request) and each dog guest has biscuits, water bowels and beds awaiting them! The garden is fully enclosed so you will be able to relax knowing they are safely outside and with moorland walking literally on the doorstep this is a perfect holiday for your energetic four footed friends. In addition to the enclosed garden you'll find a ¾ acre fenced woodland play area dedicated for our canine guests to enjoy, complete with an agility course. There are outside hot and cold taps for muddy paws (and should you be bringing them along, even muddier mountain bikes). All of the local beaches are dog friendly year round as are the majority of the pubs in the area. The local pet-shop offers a dog food delivery service of your canine family members particular brand of food and treats and also offers pet grooming and doggie day care. There is also a dog-friendly pub within walking distance, and a shop ideal for stocking up on provisions and socialising with the locals. Zoë Thackeray (Hanson), September 2020
This is our second time staying here and we just love it! Our dogs have the best time too....with treats, toys and food left for them to enjoy! Wish we could stay here forever...just perfect....this is how all the other dog friendly cottages should aspire to be.
Zed Naing, September 2020
The cottage is a lovely, beautifully furnished home away from home, with as much thought put into the comfort and safety of our 3 collies, as it is for my wife and I. With both 'hoomans' and collies receiving their own welcome baskets, this is gratefully received after a long car journey. Add to this the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the door step for long walks with the collies, and the courteousness of our hosts Emma and Simon, makes this a place we love to return to year on year.
