Porthcothan Mill Cottage is a gorgeous luxury cottage dating back to 1597. Perfect for romantic getaways and family escapes alike, this is an ideal home for both short and longer breaks and is dog friendly. It has 3 double bedrooms, and is set in a stunning large garden, just 5 minutes walk across a meadow to the beach at Porthcothan Bay, Padstow, North Cornwall. Located in a beautiful valley, the cottage has a range of character features, and has been thoughtfully furnished with a mix of modern, and vintage furniture.

Sink into comfortable sofas and beds after a day of surfing or walking. With a sumptuous purple velvet sofa and blue and grey linen smaller sofa and armchair you'll be tucked up and cosy in no time. Bold touches of colour teamed with equally colourful cushions and blinds are scattered throughout the cottage. SLEEPING There are three gorgeous bedrooms to choose from: The master bedroom is just lovely and comes with a double bed. Furnished with pretty fabrics this gorgeous room has two windows, one with a window seat and views over the garden - the perfect spot for a long, lazy lie-in! In addition, there's a chest of drawers and hanging space. The second bedroom is also gorgeous and has a double bed. Also furnished with pretty fabrics this lovely room, views over the valley, a chest drawers and hanging space. The pretty twin bedroom, has two single beds, and access to a chest drawers and hanging space. All bedrooms have cotton linen and plump cushions, and light proof blinds or curtains to ensure a good nights' sleep. The cottage is super cosy and is centrally heated and also has a woodburning stove to cosy up to during cooler evenings. SITTING ROOM There are two comfy sofas and an armchair. The room features a 40” television with a Now TV box for streaming on-demand television, a vintage Leak amplifier with Bang & Olufsen speakers with a Bluetooth input, and a Bluray / DVD player with a large film library. Additionally, there is an extensive range of board games catering to all ages, and on those cooler days and nights you can get cosy in front of our wood burning stove. COOKING AND DINING Enjoy cooking in the fully equipped country cottage kitchen which is open plan with a dining area. The kitchen area has wooden work tops, vintage Paul Metal craft kitchen, Smeg fridge, cooker, microwave, dishwasher and very well equipped cupboards stocked with a range of cooking appliances. The dining area of the kitchen is light and airy with views into the garden and features recycled and vintage items including a solid oak kitchen table and upcycled chairs. With the ability to seat 8, the dining table is perfect for entertaining if you’d like to invite friends over for the evening. The kitchen/ dining area and sitting room are all semi-open plan with a sliding barn door to create privacy and warmth when needed. THE GARDEN The garden area is extensive with a large beautiful lawn, orchard and stream and is situated in a beautiful spot, surrounded by a peaceful valley which is a haven for wildlife. Enjoy outdoor dining on the table and chair set which seats 8, there is also have a wooden garden bench, and sun-lounger. One half of the garden is 'the island', as it's nearly completely surrounded by water and what remains of the mill's original leat still runs through the garden, although nowadays it is very shallow for most of the year. The stream and some parts of the garden are unfenced so please keep a close eye on younger children. A seldom used public footpath at the very end of the garden crosses one corner of 'the island' via two bridges, and from these bridges you can follow the footpath either further into the valley or to the beach. The cottage is also perfect for both romantic escapes and also family breaks. A high chair, cot and stairgates are also available. BT Infinity WIFI and a landline are also available. There is also a warm outdoor shower for sandy wetsuits, surfboards, children and pets. Letting period is usually Saturday to Saturday during the mid and high season. During the low season we can accommodate other changeover days. Short breaks for a minimum of 2 nights are available during low season. During the rest of the year the cottage is available for a minimum of 7 nights. The rental price includes bed linen, bath towels, utilities, BT Infinity WIFI, logs, and a welcome pack. We welcome two dogs.
