This traditional farmhouse lies ½ mile beyond the outskirts of Alston on the borders of Northumbria and Cumbria, central in the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Alston is said to be England’s highest market town. Horse riding, fishing and golf nearby. Follow some of the local rambles or the Pennine Way. The glorious coast and countryside of Northumbria is within travelling distance, as are the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Scottish Borders. Water sports at Talkin and Keilder Water. Gateshead, only an hour away, has a large shopping centre with restaurants and ten screen cinema. Or just stay home and relax in front of the wood burner and eat together with family and friends. Set in a garden, bordered by mature oak trees with panoramic views over green fields and wild fells. The wildlife around the cottage is wonderful and we also have some of the darkest skies in the country with amazing star gazing. The town has a quaint cobbled street with public houses, butchers, bakers and its own candlemaker. An ideal holiday base. Assisted wheelchair users can be accommodated on the ground floor. Dog friendly pub within a mile.
