Cwm Cottage Shepherds Hut

(2 reviews)

Dogs: 2

Sleeps: 2

Cwm Cottage Shepherds hut is nestled within the Cascob valley in Mid-Wales. Just 8 miles across the English/Welsh boarder takes you deep into the Welsh countryside, surrounded by the Radnor Forest, steeped in history, myths and miles upon miles of paths to walk with your dogs.

The Shepherds hut has a fully fitted kitchen, bathroom and king size bed, along with all the luxuries you’d expect from a self catering “glamping experience”.

The farm land, in which the Shepherds Hut sits, is overlooked by the Radnor Forest, situated in the historic county of Radnorshire. The Forest pathways and walks are easily accessible by a short 650m walk up the no through road and into the Forest. The Radnor Forest comprises 3000 acres of wild upland, if considering its 1461 definition. Things may have changed and moved on from then but it is still made up of the same steep gullies and heights. The highest point reaching 660 meters (2165ft), Great Rhos with a trig point and Black Mixen with a communications mast. There is a beautiful waterfall on the Eastern side called Water Break-it’s-neck, which can be accessed via a small car park in Warren’s Wood. There are two further car parks to the North and East that also allows public access to the Forest. Presteigne, the nearest town has a small number of shops including hairdressers, butchers, florist, pharmacy, Spar, a bike shop, pubs, a chippy, Chinese takeaway, cafes and the historical visitors attraction The Judges Lodgings. The shepherd’s hut is split into two areas. A bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet and the living area with a king size bed, table, two chairs and two stools and kitchen with two hobs, an oven and all the utensils and crockery. Under the bed you’ll see find a large empty space...perfect for luggage/bags to be safely stored out the way. There is a combi boiler and two radiators in the hut (one in main living/bedroom area and one in the bathroom). It is also fully insulated so prefect no matter the season! There is a private car parking space, below the Shepherds Hut. To access the hut, it is a flight of wooden steps up to the enclosed area and then a further 3 steps into the Shepherds Hut. There is no WiFi and very limited phone signal. For entertainment we provide a radio, a map and a couple of games...don’t forget that book you have been planning to read!
