This delightful 18th century semi-detached cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Piddinghoe, in the heart of the stunning South Downs National Park. With lovely views of the River Ouse and the hills beyond, this quaint and quirky cottage is ideal for a family or friends wanting to explore the area, with sailing and river boats on your doorstep. The cottage oozes character with parquet floors, wooden beams and original latched doors. A formal dining room with an electric woodburner-effect stove leads through to the spacious kitchen which is well-equipped to cater for all your needs. There is a cosy and comfortable lounge benefiting from a warming woodburning stove, a lovely place to snuggle up in front of on those cold and wintery nights. Off the lounge is a lovely little sun room with a further comfortable sofa and a small dining table, with patio doors that open out onto the garden. The ground floor accommodation is completed with a spacious family bathroom featuring a freestanding bath and a large separate shower, as well as a double bedroom. Upstairs, there are a further two double bedrooms, one of which includes a double sofa bed, to provide flexible sleeping arrangements. Outside this charming holiday home is a pretty garden with a patio, pond and a raised decked area, offering lovely views whilst you relax with your favourite tipple at the end of the day. For lovers of the great outdoors, the area offers an abundance of walking trails, cycling and sailing opportunities. Nearby Newhaven is home to a bustling marina and seaport, with regular ferry services to France, should you fancy hopping over for the day and it also offers a good selection of amenities including shops, pubs, takeaways and restaurants. Rodmell, just a five minute drive away, was once home to the writer Virginia Woolf who drowned herself in the river here, and is where you can take a guided tour of her former home Monk’s House, after which you can pop into The Abergavenny Arms, the local pub renowned for its Sunday roasts, steak nights and for hosting various quiz nights and live bands. If you enjoyed Monk’s House then also pay a visit to Charleston, just nine miles away, which became a country meeting point for the so called Bloomsbury Set including Woolfe and her husband, you can marvel at the beautifully decorated interiors, the artists’ garden and exhibition gallery. Visit nearby Lewes, with its medieval buildings and castle, as well as being home to many fine restaurants, independent shops, book shops and antique shops. Brighton just 12 miles away makes for a great day out, with its beach, Pier, Pavilion and shopping down The Lanes, and then why not stop at the pretty seaside village of Rottingdean for a spot of lunch? Whether you step into the past with a trip to historic Battle and Lewes, or spend a family day out at Knockhatch Adventure Park or Drusillas Zoo Park, or even opt for a day at the seaside at Eastbourne or Pevensey Bay, this delightful cottage offers the perfect place to stay, at any time of year.
